The paintings in this series are inspired by long drives, horizon lines, endless fields, blue skies, continouous cloud formations, vast stretched of oceans and permeating bands of color found in all these environments.

I begin these pieces with a thick layer of acrylic underpainting, that I apply with a scraping motion. The layer of acrylic sets the tone and lines that I then work with. Using a palette knife, I apply thick layers of oil paint, impasto style, as if I were icing thick frosting onto a cake. I scrape in and out of the oil color to reveal underpainting and apply even more impasto on previous layers. The results are thick, heavy, saturated colors of abstract, resonating landscape, skyscape and seascape.
